Ms. Shanna Powers has twenty-one years in education, with the past thirteen at Diboll ISD. In her most recent position, she served as the Director of Special Services, where she was responsible for overseeing special education, dyslexia, and other special programs. Under her leadership, the department achieved 100% compliance in all 7 areas of the TEA Cyclical Monitoring Review during the 2019-2020 school year. Ms. Powers has worked as an assistant principal at the elementary and high school campuses, as well as the Special Languages and District Testing Coordinator. She began her career in education at Center ISD as a fourth-grade teacher, where she was named Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Powers received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and Master of Science in Education with an Educational Diagnostician Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University. In addition, she holds both a mid-management and superintendent certification. She is a member of the Texas Association of Secondary Administrators and the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education.
Ms. Powers graduated from Lufkin High School and has one daughter, Morgan, who is a senior at Texas A&M State University in College Station. Ms. Powers is passionate about education and is committed to providing students with high-quality programming. Ms. Powers shared that she is thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve our students and be part of the Diboll ISD family.
