COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS!
Diboll ISD is working with PTSA to track all hours of community service which benefit our students. Anyone who volunteers in any form whether it be at school, church, community organizations, school clubs, the library, Diboll Day events, or any event that helps our children please help us track the volunteer hours. Simply click on this form each time you volunteer and complete it. The information will go into a document so that at the end of the year we will have a very good estimate of how many hours our community gives back to itself! We have a town that cares about the people in it. These volunteer hours help the school in receiving grant funds. Click on the link below to enter your volunteer time.

This year’s eighth-graders —the Class of 2018 —will be the first to experience a whole new path to graduation under a new law designed to personalize learning. Students will identify career fields that interest them, and will take courses that will prepare them for success in college and the job market. I believe HB5 is one of the best pieces of legislation for our schools in many years. We will work with our parents as we move through this transition. It will require all of us to think differently as we move forward. We are currently partnering with Angelina College, Georgia Pacific and other entities to develop courses that fit the current job market needs. It is an exciting time for all of us. Please call and ask questions, give feedback and most of all support our students and staff as we work though this transition.

Diboll ISD school healthcare initiative recognition
Diboll ISD Nurses say:
The DISD Health Care Initiative has been a tremendous help for students, parents and employees. It is great to have standing orders to be able to administer over-the-counter medications like Tylenol/Motrin to students in order help ease minor aches/pains/etc while allowing them to remain at school comfortably. It is a win-win situation for everyone because students can remain in class learning and parents doesn’t have to leave work or home to bring medications to the school. In addition to OTC medicines we have the comfort in knowing that if a student comes in having an asthma attack or breathing difficulty, anaphylactic reaction or extreme low blood sugar we can quickly administer emergency medications to stabilize them until further medical care can be accessed. It’s also nice having a doctor and nursing staff that we can call and ask questions and get their expert advice. We have the doctors to guide us on medical decisions we make regarding level of care we can or can’t provide within our scope of practice. We have utilized the collaboration with other doctors to make same day appointments for students with high fevers and other acute conditions that might otherwise have to wait until the next day. I would say our quality of care has definitely increased since we started this program.
